According to reports, McDonald’s has recalled Shrek glassware from its outlets. They took the decision because Cadmium was found in the painted movie character’s design on the glassware. McDonald’s USA spokesman Bill Whitman said, they believe that painted movie characters on the glassware are safe but they want to ensure the safety of their customers so they decided to recall it. McDonald’s wants to ensure the safety of its customers at every cost. These glasses were available on its outlets and people were buying it for about $2 each.

Bill Whitman said that it’s a voluntarily recall and it’s effective immediately. This glassware is a part of the promotion campaign for the movie “Shrek Forever After.” People like to buy the things with these characters for their children.

Cadmium can cause bone softening and severe kidney problems so the officials preferred to recall because they don’t want to take any risk. Friedrich Stormier discovered Cadmium in 1817 as an impurity in zinc carbonate.

A report says that on early Friday, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall. Cadmium is normally used in producing paint and batteries so it’s extremely toxic.

The 12 million drinking glasses are available on the outlets for sale. On the other hand they also asked the customers that they should stop using the 16-ounce glasses.

The world’s largest chain of hamburgers, fast food restaurants McDonald’s Corporation deals with 47 million customers daily. McDonald’s cheeseburgers, hamburgers, breakfast items, French fries, chicken products and shakes are very popular and people love to go there for their favorite food.
