Helen Thomas Jews

Veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas had to apologize for her comment about Jews after huge controversy was created out of it. The comment was made by Helen Thomas on May 27 during an occasion at White House about Jewish heritage. She was asked a question by Rabbi David Nesenoff of RabbiLive.com that what was her thinking about Israel? The 89-year-old Thomas immediately replied “the Jews should get the hell out of Palestine.” She further said that Palestine was a land of Palestinians and they had all right to live there but Israelis, who are outsiders, had occupied their land and now they were torturing them. In Thomas’ opinion, Jews should go to Poland or Germany or America for living. She is a columnist at Hearst newspapers.

Media criticized her on her comments a lot and blamed her for issuing racy comments like that. Elan Steinberg, executive director of the World Jewish Congress immediately responded to that comment and said that she had certainly become very old now and she ought to remember Holocaust and the Second World War again. He forced Thomas to apologize for hurting Jews. The video of her comment is available on YouTube where you can watch it. Thousands of people have already watched it.

Thomas, later on her official website, issued an apology and asked the forgiveness of Jew Community for what she had said about them. She said that she did not mean to hurt them and her comment was not reflecting her belief that Middle East would only be a place of peace when all the parties recognized the importance of respect and tolerance.
