USA celebrates armed forces day 2010

The Armed Forces Day is one of the most important annual events in the United States. The event is a great opportunity to pay homage to the services of our soldiers who put their lives at stake for the protection and defense of this great nation.

The Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of May. The Armed Forces Day is the part of the Armed Forces Week and it is an occasion that is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of May. Armed Forces Day was initiated in 1949. Before this day, separate Army, Navy, and Air Force days were celebrated.

Now a pertinent question arises how Armed Forces Day is celebrated. On this glorious day, people watch parades of military men in their area and have a closer contact with the grace and gallantry of the men in uniform as a stimulant to have a feeling for patriotism. Besides that, students are given assignments in the schools regarding Armed Forces Day. The most important parade is held in Bremerton, WA.

Other events include bike rides paying homage to soldiers with the slogan “Support the Troops”. President Obama made a statement in the Presidential Proclamation that it is the gallant services of our great soldiers who continued the proud traditions in the line of duty which made it possible for Americans to sustain in the early days of independence. He told that we have the greatest military might in the world which is due to the fact that we have the most talented human resources in the world.
