Jake Knotts

South Carolina Senator Jake Knotts comes under real fire of criticism after he made use of a racial slur against a lady. Jake Knotts was sharing his point of view in an internet talk show “Pub Politics” on Thursday but he used a racial slur “raghead” pointing it towards the Republican gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley, whose parents immigrated from India. Knotts was hugely criticized for his comment and he made an apology which really looks strange when you read it. It’s more of a partial apology as he was force by someone to say sorry for what he did.

Jake Knotts made this comment on the program,

“We got a raghead in Washington; we don’t need one in South Carolina.”

Knotts says Haley is hiding her religion and facts about her personal life and we need a good Christian as the next governor of South Carolina, according to reports. Knotts later half-heartedly apologised by saying his comments about U.S president Barack Obama and Nikki Haley were “intended in jest” and there was nothing in it to be taken seriously. Knotts said,

“I still believe Ms. Haley is pretending to be someone she is not, much as Obama did, but I apologize to both for an unintended slur.”

However, Jake Knotts needs to be more careful while speaking publicly because usage of racial or ethnic slurs can prove harmful for his political career.
