Don Cheadle Goodwill Ambassador for UN

American actor, film producer, philanthropist, and author Don Cheadle has been named a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations. The 45-year-old Cheadle will promote environment conservation. He will also make possible strategies to fight climate change. As an environment program ambassador Don Cheadle’s responsibility is to raise green awareness.

On Saturday Don Cheadle was appointed as a spokesman for the United Nations environment program in Rwanda’s capital. As part of a UNEP awareness program he selected the name of a baby gorilla as Zoya with the help of internet users.

Don Cheadle gained fame in late 1990s for his several roles. He appeared in Traffic, Ocean’s and ElevenOut of Sight. He was nominated for Academy Award as a Best Actor for his role as Rwandan in film Hotel Rwanda. Not only this he also co-authored a book titled Not On Our Watch: The Mission To End Genocide In Darfur And Beyond. In Iron Man 2 he starred as Lt. Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes in 2010.

As a dancer he appeared in1980’s video “It’s The Reel Thing.” He appeared in many films including Hamburger Hill. He played roles as Jack in an episode of Night Court, as ‘Rocket’ in the 1988 movie Colors, as Will Smith’s friend in an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air titled “Homeboy, Sweet Homeboy”, in a supporting role in The Golden Palace and as district attorney John Littleton on two seasons of Picket Fences.
