Jazz singer Lena Horne dies at 92

Horne married Louis Jordan Jones in 1937 and they had a daughter, Gail Lumet Buckley, and a son, Edwin Jones. Edwin Jones died of kidney disease at the age of 29. Their marriage ended in divorced in 1944. Horne was than married to Lennie Hayton, musical conductors and arrangers at MGM, in 1947. The couple separated just fourteen year after their marriage and Hayton died in 1971. Horne appeared on TV variety shows such as “The Ed Sullivan Show,” “The Dean Martin Show,” and “The Bell Telephone Hour.” Horne also played herself on television programs like “The Muppet Show,” “Sesame Street,” and “The Cosby Show.” Horne won the “Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award” in 1989.
