Well chances are that you wouldn’t find black chicken that easily because they are not grown in the US. Chickens that have black meat are only available in Korea, South East Asia and China. That’s why you can find chickens like these in Asian grocery stores. The chickens don’t look black on the outside because their feathers are silky white. It is for this reason that they are called Silkie Chickens. The bird is beautiful, mild natured and subtle in personality. That’s why they make excellent pets. Though the feathers of the Silkie chicken are white, its skin is black. Usually the meat and bones of the Silkie chicken are of a dark blue or gray color. In some instances they go dark enough to look black.
The Silkie chicken may look different from other chickens because of its feathers and meat, but the taste of the Asian bird is the same as farm grown chicken. The only slight difference in the taste is due to the fact that the Silkie chicken is not farm grown, it is naturally grown. If these chickens are also started to be grown in farms in the US, they would start tasting exactly the same.
