Joran Van Der Sloot Arrested

The law enforcing authorities of Chile have successfully stopped a Dutch suspect who was wanted for murder in Peru. On Thursday, the 3rd of June 2010, the Chilean police arrested a twenty two year old Dutch who stayed wanted for three days in Peru for the murder of a young woman in Lima. Joran Van Der Sloot was the guy who got apprehended by the police. Around five years ago he was held responsible for a mysteries disappearance of a young American in the Caribbean. However, the case was never solved.

Joran Van der Sloot came to Chile on Monday through the border of Peru. He was arrested in Santiago. The police stated that at the time of his arrest he was traveling in a taxi from Vina del Mar on the Pacific coast.

Peruvian police reported that Sloot was the chief suspect for the murder of Stephany Ramirez Flores, the daughter of a contractor in Lima. On Tuesday the body of the victim was found in a hotel at Miraflores. According to witnesses Flores was seen with the suspect.

A few years ago Van der Sloot was the prime suspect in a case which had a great impact in the United States. The case involved the disappearance of an American student of 21 years, Natalee Holloway. In 2005 Holloway went to visit the Aruba Island. Sloot was placed in preventive detention during the investigation. Later he was released for lack of evidence and Holloway’s body was never found. The case resurfaced in 2008 with a video made by a Dutch journalist. The video showed Van der Sloot in which he described how a friend helped him in disposing Holloway’s body at the sea.
